Rhapsody in Ash and Fire
Unexhibited
This collection is inscribed not upon canvas, but upon paper and narrative surfaces; surfaces that themselves embrace the tale of restlessness.
“Rhapsody in Ash and Fire” is a hymn rising from the realm of shadows, where the artist’s soul oscillates between the great duality of existence. The figures, as if awakened by the throb of a heavy sleep, wander amidst the murkiness of black and the dust of ash. This darkness is not the end of color, but the very crucible for the birth of that burning flame. Here, the fiery red is not a pigment from a palette, but the vein of life itself; the blood-filled vessel of passion, rebellion, and a pain that finds solace only through the scream of color. The brushstrokes are a reminder of hands striving to not forget something, or to rescue something from sheer ruin. The white patches are the flicker of hope that blinks amidst the dark masses of the mind. These works narrate the sacred contradiction: a place where the coldness of ash is always the sheltering canopy of life’s warmth, and every silence is the prelude to a sudden eruption. These surfaces are windows inward; a place where dust and intuition are intermingled, allowing the viewer to gaze through the wounds of color into the depths of a soul in the act of living.Ultimately, this Rhapsody is the lost melody of the human heart; that song which is always in motion between burning and building.
