Globalization, instead of erasing borders, actually contributes to their multiplication, as it undermines and rejects traditional legacies. By denying national, ancestral (or patrimonial), and religious values, and thereby de-identifying the individual, it leads to a destructive effect. Total globalization mixes together ambiguous possibilities in terms of values, interests, and ways of life, making them publicly available for self-display or consumption, but not for the genuine development of the individual.
